Essex Shi-Ladies Gaelic Football Program Overview

Our Women’s Gaelic Football program, known as the Shi-Ladies, is open to women 17 and older and offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of Gaelic games. Our program is in association with the Town of West Orange Recreation Department and the New York Ladies Gaelic Football League (LGFA). The Shi-Ladies are sponsored by Tullamore Dew. 

Registration fees for the 2026 season are:

  • West Orange Residents: $80
  • Non-Residents: $90

Annual registration covers participation in all applicable recreational and travel opportunities offered during the 2026 calendar year.egistration fee includes par seasons of play for the year.

What to Expect for 2026

The Essex Shi-Ladies Gaelic Football Program returns in 2026 with a dynamic and inclusive structure designed to welcome new players, re-engage returning athletes, and provide both recreational and competitive playing opportunities.

Spring League (Recreational)

The 2026 season will begin with recreational play in West Orange, organized to emphasize skill development, camaraderie, and fun competition.

  • Unified Weekly Training:
    All registered players will practice together once per week on Wednesdays, beginning March 25 at 6 p.m. on Stagg Field, focusing on fundamentals, fitness, and team play in a supportive, social environment.
  • Spring Match Play:
    In April, players will take part in 7-on-7 recreational matches, culminating in the crowning of the Women’s League Champion.

Competitive Travel Play – Junior B

In addition to recreational play, the Shi-Ladies program will offer Spring and Fall travel competition:

  • ESGAA will field a Junior B team competing in the NY Ladies GAA.
  • Travel teams will be selected from among registered players who are interested and qualified for competitive play.
  • This structure allows players to enjoy local recreational football while also representing Essex at the inter-county level.

Semi Finals – May 17
10 am Winner Group A vs Winner Group C
11 am Winner Group B vs Winner Group D

Final – May 31
11 am Winner SF1 vs Winner SF2
